Introduction:
The Virtual Team Room (VTR) is a client's - world's most
respected consultancy- custom-built Lotus Notes application
intended to help consultants share information easily with
each other and with their clients. The application, VTR, provides
a central, organized repository for all documents related
to a client engagement. It also allows teams to track critical
data related to an engagement including team calendar entries,
contact information, as well as meeting minutes and materials.
Since the VTR application was upgrading to a new version,
the client wanted to enhance the existing VTR e-learning course
to incorporate these new enhancements. This would allow users
to login to the course to learn about these new features.
Customer’s Problem:
The client wanted to make the users of their application
understand what the application can do for them and how they
can use it in their day-to-day routine work.
The client wanted to have a downloadable version of the support
material that the user is able to download on his/her local
machine, take the course offline and submit the status whenever
he connects to the server. Similarly, the users need to appear
for online assessments on what they learn about the application.
The users will need to get in touch with a support center
who can guide them on how and what to know, appear for online
tests, get scores and obtain feedback.
Our Solution:
FCS provided the following solution after assessing the requirements
of the client.
The users can call a support agent at FCS and get help on
the use of application and get bug fixing / enhancements done,
after prior approval from an approving authority. The support
agents need to be available live any hour of the day, any
day, to support these callers. Similarly, the users can also
chat and participate in a discussion forum and submit their
viewpoints, answer queries raised by any other user. Additionally,
they can also send email to the FCS support team to get answers
to their queries.
This support system is backed with a sound interactive training
material. Specifically, the VTR e-learning course contents
cover a majority of the application features (e.g.,
Team Documents, Setting up a VTR). FCS was also responsible
for coding the course, developing the technical test plans
and documenting the code after the development effort was
completed.
The Admin section can be used to change questions that appear
within the assessments. Questions can be edited, deleted and
added to assessments through this section. Also a user log
report categorized by User, Date and Time could be generated
and printed with the help of this section.
The VTR e-learning course had to be developed according to
the following parameters:
1. Developed in Macromedia Authorware6.0
(version must be compatible with the
Authorware Player 6.0)
2. Compatible on the following platforms: Internet Explorer
5.0 and above.
3. Compliant with Saba (McKinsey’s Learning Management System)
requirements.
